Participants in the 21st Annual Total Joint Surgery Walk hosted by Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies (OCR) logged an estimated 1,200 miles and about 450 hours of walking during September. Walkers took part virtually from Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, Texas, California, and Tennessee.
Held throughout September, the annual Total Joint Surgery Walk celebrates patients who have had joint replacement surgery and are back to walking and staying active. The event is virtual, so participants can take part wherever they live, and 2026 marked OCR’s seventh year hosting the walk virtually.
2026 Total Joint Surgery Walk Results
Participants tracked their activity using a no-cost activity mobile app and joined the 2026 OCR 21st Annual Total Joint Surgery Walk club. Based on club activity, participants together:
- Walked more than 1,200 miles
- Spent about 450 hours walking
- Gained more than 36,000 feet in elevation
- Took roughly 2.5 million steps
Walks were logged across Northern Colorado, including Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor, Timnath, Greeley, Milliken and Mead, as well as Broomfield and Lookout Mountain. Participants also walked in Kimball, Scottsbluff and the Wildcat Hills in Nebraska; Cheyenne, Wyoming; Houston, Texas; Ventura, California; and Tennessee. Activities ranged from short lunch walks to trail hikes with more than 1,000 feet of elevation gain.
“This walk is one of my favorite reminders of what joint replacement can give back to people,” said Dana Clark, MD, orthopedic surgeon and joint replacement specialist at OCR. “This September our walkers covered more than a thousand miles across six states, on mountain trails, lunch breaks and neighborhood loops. We’re proud of every one of them, and grateful to the family and friends who walked alongside them.”
OCR’s Commitment to the Community
