Fifth Annual Construction Con to Introduce Northern Colorado High School Students to Careers in Construction
**For student safety the event is not open to the public and does not have tickets available for purchase upon arrival**
The Northern Colorado Construction Sector Partnership (NOCO CSP) is excited to announce its fifth annual Construction Con event, taking place at the Ranch Events Complex in Loveland, Colorado, on Wednesday, October 15, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. This hands-on, immersive experience will give 750 – 800 high school students from across Northern Colorado a unique opportunity to explore diverse career paths within the construction industry.
This year, Construction Con will continue to build upon our newest segment: the Neurodivergent and Workforce Development Hour, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. In partnership with TACT (Teaching the Autism Community Trades), Revel, and our local school districts, this segment is specifically designed for neurodivergent individuals, offering an inclusive and supportive environment to explore construction career opportunities.
More than 250 representatives from various sectors – including companies, universities, associations, and apprenticeship programs – will host indoor and outdoor activity booths and indoor pathway exhibits to inspire and encourage students to consider a career in construction.
The mission of NOCO CSP is to improve the construction experience across Northern Colorado,” said Isaac Bowen, Board Co-Chair of the Northern Colorado Construction Sector Partnership. “Our three pillars bring this mission to life, one of which is building a stronger Talent Pipeline and improving the perception of our industry. Construction Con is our flagship event, and it plays a vital role in achieving those goals.”
At Construction Con, students will engage in hands-on activities across a variety of trades – carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and welding – offering exposure to careers they might not otherwise experience. Additionally, students will have opportunities to explore higher-level career pathways in project management, engineering, and architecture.
“Construction Con provides high school students with a window into the many career options available in the construction industry,” Bowen added. “We hope this event will inspire students to explore construction careers and help address the ongoing workforce shortage in our sector.”
