FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Fort Collins Utilities’ Oak Street Water System Improvement Project will begin construction the week of July 22nd to replace existing water infrastructure in downtown Fort Collins. This work is being completed ahead of the Oak Street Stormwater Improvements Project. The replacement of ageing water mains will enhance system reliability, improve fire flow capacity, and protect water quality.
The project extends along Oak Street from Grant Ave. to west of Shields St., and along Mack Street from Oak Street to Mountain Ave. Construction will begin at the intersection of Oak St. and Grant Ave. and progress to the west. There will be a full closure on Oak St. and Grant Ave. around the active construction zones. Access for residents will be maintained but may be limited at times. Pedestrian access in the area will be maintained.
Crews will be conducting work between the hours of 7:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday. This portion of the project has an anticipated completion date of February 2025, weather permitting.
