[FORT COLLINS, Colo.] – Poudre River Public Library District is pleased to announce the appointment of Vicki Woods to its Board of Trustees. The Library Board is responsible for governing the district, including guiding its mission, providing policy oversight, and overseeing the budget. Trustees are appointed jointly by representatives from the Fort Collins City Council and Larimer County Board of Commissioners.

“Poudre Libraries has much work to do in the months ahead as we plan for a new southeast library and expand library services throughout our service area,” said Matt Schild, Board of Trustees President. “Vicki’s knowledge of public libraries and her passion for serving her community will help the Library move forward with these exciting projects and achieve the ambitious goals we’ve set out for ourselves and our community.”

Vicki Woods recently retired as the executive director of the Poudre Landmarks Foundation and was a former public library director in St. Louis. She brings valuable experience in strategic planning and library advocacy to the Board.

“As a former librarian, I am keenly aware of the critical role libraries play in their communities,” said Woods. “Information literacy, lifelong learning, events and programming, and social/cultural connection are all vital to the health of the community and the library is uniquely equipped to provide these services.”

Vicki Woods joins existing board members Schild (president), Corey Radman (vice president), Randyn Heisserer-Miller (secretary/treasurer), Joshua Fudge, Hilary Herrmann, and Anuja Riles.

Library Trustees are advocates for the public library and its fundamental tenets including intellectual freedom, the right to read, privacy and confidentiality, and free and equal access.
