April is flying by with events linked to Child Abuse Prevention Month and this week’s National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. These events mark a time to recognize the importance of community members and community organizations working together to support and strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect. ChildSafe provides therapy and support for victims of child abuse and child sexual abuse. For 38 years, we have helped survivors heal so they have an opportunity to live the fulfilling and healthy lives they want and deserve.
At ChildSafe, we’ve felt the love of many local businesses and organizations this month who have been supporting us by staging fundraising events, dropping off donations of goods, taking tours at ChildSafe so they might learn more, directing church collections to benefit our programs, as well as awarding sponsorships and donating auction items for ChildSafe’s Celebration of Healing set for June 8. It’s troubling to think that ChildSafe’s services are so critical in our wonderful community, but heartwarming to know that we live in a community of people who care so much that they are willing to step forward and become part of the solution for their neighbors.
In addition to these valuable connections to the business community, we also see collaborations growing through the Nonprofit Sector Partnership. With help from the Chamber, nonprofits across northern Colorado are working together to tackle issues that impact most of our organizations, like sustainable funding, community awareness, workforce challenges, and organizational improvement. It’s through collaboration, that we all learn and succeed.
As we near the end of April and revel in the impact of these community-based efforts, I’m very happy to be part of a community that supports the difficult work we do. ChildSafe is currently growing to meet the needs for direct services right here in northern Colorado, and we invite you to partner with us to help more children, individuals, and families. If we all do a little, collectively, we will make a BIG impact for our community.
