Increasing tuition and cutting costs are no longer viable options for many universities and colleges seeking new ways to become or remain financially sustainable.

To help higher education institutions tackle current and future challenges, BKD CPAs & Advisors released its 2020 Annual Higher Education Outlook, a document that breaks down the mindset and attitudes of campus leaders, covers survey data on institutional financial sustainability from BKD’s 2019 survey and includes a summary of observations, conclusions and recommendations for officials.

“It’s a challenging time for higher education as schools search for new strategies in the pursuit of financial sustainability,” said Nick Wallace, a BKD director and creator of the outlook. “That’s why we decided it was important to create a resource that would accumulate and organize the issues institutions are facing, along with solutions schools can use moving forward.”

The outlook provides context for ideas designed to inspire institutions. It’s packed with insights to help campuses develop a strategy for their future and focuses on actions colleges and universities can take as they strive for financial sustainability.
