Fort Collins Cat Rescue & Spay/Neuter Clinic will present a four-day public gallery exhibition of their Grand Cats art pieces at the Carnegie Center for Creativity in Fort Collins. The exhibition, open 12-6 p.m., Feb. 20-23, will feature 30 feline silhouettes and papier-mâché forms that donors have transformed into unique works of art. The forms will be auctioned in March to provide funds for Fort Collins Cat Rescue & Spay/Neuter Clinic’s lifesaving work.
Professional and amateur artists from throughout northern Colorado were invited to create the Grand Cats. Each Grand Cat began as an unadorned, two- or three-dimensional cat-shaped form. Their finished works include paintings, mosaics, mixed media, and clever, one-of-a-kind applications.
The exhibition will preview the Grand Cats that will be available at the silent auction at Fort Collins Cat Rescue & Spay/Neuter Clinic’s Whiskers ’n Wags Jubilee on March 30 at the Hilton Fort Collins. This year’s theme is “Hollywood: Night at the Mewvies.” The Grand Cats are an important and beloved component of the nonprofit organization’s annual dinner, silent and live auction fundraiser. In 2018, the event raised more than $104,000 to help northern Colorado’s at-risk cats and dogs.
The Grand Cats will be on display Feb. 20-23 in Gallery C at the Carnegie Center for Creativity, 200 Mathews St., Fort Collins, CO 80524, during the center’s normal hours, Wednesday through Saturday, 12-6 p.m. A private artist reception will take place Feb. 21. If you would like to attend the private reception, please email Director of Philanthropy Ashley Boothe at [email protected] by Monday, Feb. 18.
