More than 63 percent of 2017 graduates have earned at least one Associate Degree or Career Technical Education Certificate
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – May 16, 2017 – On Friday, May 19, 100 percent of high school students graduating from Colorado Early Colleges Fort Collins (CECFC) will graduate with a high school diploma and an average of 58 college credits. 63 percent of students will graduate with a free, complete Associates Degree and/or certifications. The 161 students that make up CECFC’s 5th and largest graduating class will be recognized during the 4 p.m. commencement ceremony at Timberline Church, 2908 S. Timberline Road, Fort Collins, CO 80525.
CECFC was founded in 2012 as a tuition-free, open enrollment public charter high school. Our mission is to ensure that each student, regardless of background or skill level, will have the opportunity to pursue a growth mindset that will allow them to achieve mastery and to demonstrate they can succeed in school, in college, and in their chosen career. No exceptions. No excuses. Newsweek Magazine ranked CECFC as the No. 1 (2015) and No. 2 (2016) Top High School in Colorado for post-secondary and workforce student readiness. Also, CECFC is northern Colorado’s only CareerWise Colorado high school offering this apprenticeship program.
CECFC is also the first school in Colorado to offer a Postsecondary Workforce Readiness endorsed diploma which identifies students who have gone above and beyond the basic high school graduation requirements. Students are required to complete a career plan, demonstrate 21st-century skills through internships, community service or work experience and show additional college level course work in 3 separate areas.
“The education landscape has been changing, and we value the opportunity to help students achieve success no matter their background or skill level. Our consistent, yet fast-paced growth is a sign that northern Colorado families want to better prepare their students for a successful future without breaking the bank to do it,” said Brown.
Students across northern Colorado, and even north Denver, have chosen CECFC over neighborhood public schools, home school or other charter schools.
