(Fort Collins, CO — March 6, 2017) – Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar, located at 123 N. College Ave. in downtown Fort Collins, is excited to welcome Sam Taylor as the new General Manager. After working at Jax for more than four years and most recently serving as the Assistant General Manager, Taylor earned the title of General Manager in February 2017. He brings with him a long history of experience and enthusiasm for the food and beverage industry.
“I was exposed to diverse aspects of the restaurant industry from a young age,” said Taylor. “My stepfather reviewed restaurants and founded food and wine events, where I met big players in the industry. Additionally, I accompanied my mother when she traveled to Europe and Asia for her job as a book reviewer. I loved embracing foreign cultures and the atmospheres of a large variety of restaurants.”
This early-cultivated passion for the restaurant industry guided Taylor’s future career path. He went on to receive his BBA in Hotel, Restaurant, Resort Management at Northwood University in Midland, Mich., and he is currently working on his Level 2 certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers. During his college years and beyond, Taylor worked under notable figures in the industry, including Chef Tony Demes, Chef Jaime Jeffrey and Chef Myles Anton, who has been the runner up multiple times for the James Beard awards.
His past endeavors serve him well in his latest venture at Jax. He enjoys the diversity of his job, as well as having the opportunity to foster customers’ love of the cuisine and overall dining experience. Taylor’s employees are just as important to him as his customers. Among the Jax staff, he is known as a wine fanatic and even hosts weekly wine tasting classes for employees. Jax as a whole embraces northern Colorado’s appreciation for wine and changes out their wine list on a weekly basis to keep it fresh.
Outside of the restaurant scene, Taylor immerses himself in the beautiful Colorado outdoors. He is an avid backcountry snowboarder and considers Rocky Mountain National Park his “holy land.” But as much as he loves the outdoors, his first priority will always be catering to the customers of Jax.
