FORT COLLINS, Colo. (Sept. 9, 2016) – Pathways, a local nonprofit providing expert hospice care, palliative care and grief and loss support, invites the community to an array of events and classes this fall. The events are designed to offer compassionate and supportive outlets for navigating the grieving process. They include a Fall Equinox Celebration, Labyrinth Writing Paths Workshop, The Next Course Cooking Class and Dia de los Muertos art class and fiesta.
“Everyone finds peace and healing through different means,” said Tammy Brannen-Smith, Director of Pathways for Grief and Loss. “We enjoy hosting a variety of programs and events so that members of our community can experience solace after grief.”
Events this fall include:
Fall Equinox Celebration: Join the Friends of the Labyrinth at Pathways to celebrate the change in season. No cost to attend and no registration required.
Date: Friday, Sept. 16, 6-7 p.m.
Location: Pathways, 305 Carpenter Rd. in Fort Collins
Labyrinth Writing Paths Workshop: Take the opportunity to walk the Labyrinth at Pathways and engage in reflective writing. Cost is $11 to attend. Registration is required.
Date: Wednesday, Sept. 21, 4-5:30 p.m.
Location: Pathways, 305 Carpenter Rd. in Fort Collins
The Next Course Cooking Class: Spend some time in the kitchen creating a delicious meal in a lighthearted and supportive environment. Vanessa Schmidt will lead the class as the guest instructor. Schmidt attended the Cooking and Hospitality Institute in Chicago and has her own catering business. Cost is $15. Registration is required.
Date: Thursday, Sept. 29, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Dia de los Muertos Art Classes and Fiesta: Celebrate this unique Mexican holiday that honors and remembers loved ones who have died. Each week, participants will share memories of loved ones while creating a new craft to add to the altars. Class themes include step-by-step painting, metal tin art to honor loved ones, memory dolls and traditional sugar skulls, and creating altars from tin boxes. The classes will conclude with a potluck fiesta of loved ones’ favorite dishes. Classes are $15 per person (discounts available if signing up multiple people or for multiple classes). Registration is required for classes. The fiesta is free and open to the public.
Dates: Classes are Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27, 6-8 p.m.; Fiesta is Nov. 2, 6-8 p.m.

In addition to these seasonal events, Pathways also offers continual support groups including the Newly Bereaved Support Group for those navigating the early days of loss, On Our Own: A Widowed Person’s Discussion Group, Circles of Hope for families dealing with grief, Men’s Grief Support that addresses the unique issues men face in the grieving process, and various others.
