Advanced Animal Care of Colorado is proud and excited to announce Dr. Eric Morissette.
Dr. Morissette began his education at the DeMaisonneuve Cegep in Montreal, Canada in 1989. While attending this school he earned a DEC (Diplôme d’Etudes Collégiales) in Health Science. In 1991 he enrolled at the University of Quebec in Montreal where he studied Molecular Biology and earned Bachelor of Biology in 1994. After finishing this program, he continued on at the University of Montreal and earned a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1998.
In 2006, with his veterinary practice career in full swing, Dr. Morissette decided to further his education and training. He followed his passion and entered the Veterinary Clinical Pathology Program, at the University of Florida, where he completed his residency and passed boards in 2009, granting him the title of Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologist (ACVP).
After becoming a Board Certified Veterinary Clinical Pathologist, Dr. Morissette kept practicing veterinary medicine with a very particular clinical pathology angle and emphasis on diagnostic techniques, combining both his passions. His most recent veterinary position brings him from Norfolk, Virginia, where he has been working as a General Practice Associate in private practice. He has also maintained Veterinary Clinical Pathology Consultation Services to varied industries (diagnostic, toxicology, basic research).
Dr. Morissette enjoys interacting with pet owners, clinicians, and co-workers, and is always willing to field and answer questions. Above all, he enjoys helping people and animals, which he has been able to do in multiple capacities over the course of his career. His passionate approach to veterinary medicine and his love for what he does are demonstrated in his exuberant ability for making sometimes tedious and downright unexciting subjects compelling in the eyes of the people with whom he interacts.
When not practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Morissette dedicates his time to his family – his wife MaryAnn and Thomas, their 2 1/2 year old son. He often says his family “is the center of his Universe, everything else just gravitates around it.” Dr Morissette and his family are excited to move to Colorado and he is especially excited about the opportunity for his son Thomas, who was born and raised in the Norfolk area, when old enough, to be able to enjoy the same activities he grew up with in Canada (hockey, ski, snowshoeing, and sledding).
Dr. Morissette’s motivation, positive attitude, and extensive clinical practice experience combined with the uses of veterinary clinical pathology, and his communication skills, make him a valuable addition to the Advanced Animal Care of Colorado team. Dr. Morissette will be joining AACC as a General Practice veterinarian, but will also aid us in expanding our internal approach to Clinical Pathology, as that is his specialty. He will be available for appointments beginning on Monday, February 15, 2016.
