Vine Drive over I-25 Bridge Replacement Overnight I-25 closure planned on June 8

Jun 5, 2019 | Member News

The Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor partner, Zak Dirt, recently started a major construction project to replace the 53-year-old Vine Drive bridge over Interstate 25. Vine Drive between the I-25 frontage roads will be closed for seven months beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28.

The frontage road on the west side of I-25 between Vine Drive and Colorado Highway 14 (Mulberry Street) will remain open during this initial construction phase, which lasts through late summer.

The 3.5-mile detour route utilizes N. Timberline Road, Mountain Vista Drive and the frontage road east of I-25.

The schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change. Any changes to the closure date will be posted on the project website and on message boards placed along the corridor.

Overnight I-25 closure planned on June 8

The first full closure of I-25 near the Vine Drive bridge is planned on Saturday, June 8 starting at 6 p.m. until Sunday, June 9 at 10 a.m. During the extended overnight closure, the existing bridge will be demolished. Northbound and southbound I-25 traffic will detour off the highway and onto the adjacent east frontage road between the Mulberry Drive and Mountain Vista Drive interchanges. More information on the I-25 full closure will follow.

Project Background

This project will replace the existing Vine Drive (Larimer County Road 48) bridge over I-25. Improvements will also be made to bridge approaches on Vine Drive and the frontage roads. Project completion is anticipated in early 2020.
