UCHealth diabetes specialists are reaching out to people who are at risk of developing diabetes to help them make the lifestyle changes they need to prevent the condition altogether.
Losing just 5 to 7 percent of one’s weight can reduce the person’s risk for Type 2 Diabetes by 58 to 71 percent, according to the specialists.
UCHealth’s evidence-based Diabetes Prevention Program is a yearlong program with 16 in-person classes in the first six months and six monthly follow-up classes to promote long-term lifestyle change to prevent Type 2 diabetes and other related disease.
