Teaching Tree to Host March 28 Celebration to Expand Child Care Center

Teaching Tree Early Childhood Learning Center is pleased to announce a community-wide groundbreaking event to celebrate the center’s $2.1-million capital expansion project.

The event will take place March 28, 4:30-6 pm, at Northside Aztlan Community Center. Individuals interested in attending should RSVP to Tara Streeb, [email protected], (970) 493-2628.

According to a white paper published in Nov. 2017 by the Talent 2.0 Task Force, there is a severe deficit of licensed child care slots. More than 20,000 families have young children in need of care, yet only 13,754 licensed child care slots exist, most or all of which are filled. Teaching Tree’s waitlist has exceeded 300 children over the last several years.

In response to the overwhelming need, Teaching Tree will expand its center at 424 Pine Street in Fort Collins, by creating six new classrooms and two new natural playgrounds. When the new classrooms open in Jan. 2020, Teaching Tree’s licensed capacity will increase from 101 to 215 children.
