Realities For Children Charities Breaks Ground on Final Phase of Homebase Facility in Larimer County

Realities For Children Charities broke ground last week on the third and final phase of its Homebase Facility and Youth Activities Campus in Larimer County. The half-acre Children’s Playground and Park area, slated for completion at the end of August 2017, will provide space for foster families, service providers and youth activities in a private and safe setting. Fort Collins, Loveland and Larimer County leaders joined the launch of this final phase last week. As the final stage of construction begins, Realities for Children is calling on its partners and the community to contribute to the campaign by purchasing one of 25 final bricks remaining on its path of healing.

“Congratulations to the continued success of Realities for Children on the Phase 2 completion and the groundbreaking of the Homebase Playground and Park. RFC is a great impact partner in northern Colorado and Fort Collins, improving the lives of children in our community,” said Fort Collins Mayor Wade Troxell.

In summer 2016, Realities for Children purchased its new Larimer County property and launched its ‘Path of Healing’ brick campaign to raise the $900,000 needed for the facility. Each brick placed in the Path of Healing is a $1,000 tax deductible donation and every dollar donated is matched by the Richardson Foundation.

The Homebase Facility and Youth Activities Campus sits on four acres in Larimer County, south of Fort Collins. This innovative facility is a safe haven and centrally-located space for children and families served by Realities For Children’s agency partners. The facility supports signature programs and youth activities that provide cathartic and therapeutic opportunities for change. Some of these annual services and programs include Back To School Supplies, Warm Winter Clothing, and Santa’s Toy and Bikes For Tykes.

Construction on the facility has been a three-phase process:

  • Phase 1, completed April 2017: The 4,400 square feet Homebase facility and 1,200 square foot Events Building will be used for agency services, programs, and events and is the new home for the Realities For Children offices.
  • Phase 2, completed July 2017:  The 4,000 square foot distribution center is efficient, secure and accessible to all the youth agencies and children that Realities for Children serves. The following programs will be held here: Back To School Supplies, Diapers and Hygiene Items, Thanksgiving Meals, Warm Winter Clothing, Bikes For Tykes and more.
  • Phase 3, To be completed by the end of August 2017:  The Half Acre Children’s Playground and Park area.
