FORT COLLINS, Colo. (May 3, 2018) – As part of its mission to provide community support and enhance quality of life, Pathways hosted its Annual Caregiver Pampering Day on Saturday, April 28. The purpose of this special day was to honor those who spend their days and nights caring for a loved one. Caregivers in the community enjoyed a free day of enjoyment, relaxation and pampering.

“Caring for an ill loved one is one of the most difficult jobs in the world and oftentimes goes unnoticed,” said Tammy Brannen-Smith, Director of Pathways for Grief and Loss. “We understand just how hard caregivers in our community work, and we wanted them to feel treasured and to take time for self-care.”

With the help of many volunteers, caregivers indulged in free services, including aromatherapy, massages, creative healing, mindful stress reduction, yoga, tea tasting hosted by Happy Lucky’s Teahouse, therapy dog companionship and much more.

Caregiver Pampering Day is a collaboration among Alzheimer’s Association, Dementia-Friendly Communities of Northern Colorado, Larimer County Office on Aging, Mountain View Presbyterian Church, Pathways and Volunteers of America. This special day is also made possible with financial support from AARP, Aspen Club, Good Samaritan Society, Mackenzie Place, MorningStar Assisted Living & Memory Care of Fort Collins, Rigden Farm, Seniors Helping Seniors and WindSong Memory Care.
