Pathways Hospice Hosts Music Therapy Day Camp To Provide Support for Bereaved Children

Pathways Hospice is using the power of music to encourage children, ages 6 through 12 who are experiencing grief, to effectively communicate their emotions in a music therapy day camp, “I’ve Got a Feeling.” The one-time group will meet on Tuesday, July 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pathways Hospice, 305 Carpenter Road in Fort Collins. There is no fee to participate, but attendees are asked to register at (970) 663-3500.

“The camp is a day for kids to have fun and learn new skills,” said Director of Grief & Loss Program for Pathways Hospice, Tammy Brannen-Smith. “We hope to inspire the kids to use music regularly in coping with their grief.”

Pathways Hospice music therapists and grief counselors will help kids explore, identify and express their emotions through music in a fun, supportive atmosphere. Activities will include drumming, song writing, movement and more. Previous musical experience is unnecessary. All materials and lunch will be provided, but personal instruments are welcome.
