OVER 1,200 MILES LOGGED DURING ORTHOPAEDIC & SPINE CENTER OF THE ROCKIES 18TH ANNUAL TOTAL JOINT SURGERY WALK
COLORADO, USA (October 23, 2023) – More than 1,000 participants logged over 1,200 miles during the 18th Annual Total Joint Surgery Walk hosted by Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies (OCR).
Held throughout the entire month of September, the Total Joint Surgery Walk celebrates the accomplishments of all patients who have had joint surgery and are back to moving like they used to. OCR invited patients to join virtually so that any patient across the United States could participate. This year’s event marked OCR’s fourth year hosting the event virtually for all patients, current and past, with free registration.
Carli Taylor Drake, OCR’s Director of Marketing and Practice Development, remarked, “Our Total Joint Surgery Walk is a testament to the incredible resilience and determination of our patients. Their journeys inspire us all.”
For convenient tracking, OCR utilized the free STRAVA Fitness Tracker App for mobile devices. Participants joined the OCR 2023 Joint Walk Club to record their activity in the app alongside fellow movers. Current and past patients turned to comment on social media and Strava to share their excitement, gratitude, and inspiration post-recovery:
“A little over two years ago, I had my TKR, and wow, what a difference it made. Last year was my first OCR walk, and I really enjoyed the challenge to push my limits,” exclaimed past OCR patient, Edie C, “This year, a friend asked if she could walk with me at noon, and my husband walked with me in the evening. Both kept me on track to reach my goals and enjoyed this opportunity as much as I did. Thank you, OCR!”
“Movement is the essence of life. It’s inspiring to see so many OCR patients embracing the spirit of motion and recovery in the Total Joint Surgery Walk,” stated new OCR physician and Total Joint and Reconstructive Surgery Specialist, Dr. Scott Galey, MD, “The dedication and commitment they display in regaining their active lives is truly remarkable. I’m proud to be part of a team that values and celebrates the transformative power of movement.”
All participants who shared photos of their walking, biking, hiking, and more, on social media channels were entered to win prizes and OCR also gave free t-shirts to the first 500 people who registered for the virtual walk.
