The Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors approved the final Old Town Square Renovation construction contract of $2.86 million on March 12, during its monthly meeting. This action kicks off the start of construction. Mortenson Construction will mobilize the construction project by dropping off materials and staging their equipment in the old Elks building lot on Remington the week of March 16.Construction will start the week of March 23; substantial completion of the project is expected to be in time for NewWestFest in mid August. The first phases of the renovation will include structural deconstruction of the existing stage, the kiosk and some outdoor patio railings along with the beginning of the paver replacement in some areas of the plaza.

The DDA is supporting local businesses and the public’s curiosity with the renovation project by hosting monthly programmed activities. Artists, service agencies and educational institutions all have programmed events taking place in the heart of the Square from March through August to bring people down and enjoy the project’s progress.
