The Cooking Studio is now offering accredited food safety certification classes and exams to meet the needs of food service managers in northern Colorado.
The Colorado Department of Health & Environment requires that retail food service establishments employ at least one manager who holds a Certified Food Protection Manager Certification. This is a new requirement and has become part of the health departments surveys as of Jan 1, 2019. This affects restaurants, delis, cafeterias, coffee shops, commissary kitchens, grocery stores and many other food service/retail establishments in Colorado. Not having a manager who is certified by an accredited program is now considered noncompliance and a critical violation.
The Larimer County regulation states:
At least one employee that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control food preparation and service must be a certified food protection manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an accredited program. The course covers food safety issues, regulations, and techniques to maintain a food-safe environment. The intent of the course is to certify that each food manager has demonstrated by means of a food safety certification examination that he/she has the knowledge, skills and abilities required to protect the public from food-borne illness.
To help Northern Colorado food services meet this new regulation, The Cooking Studio is now offering the official, accredited, National Restaurant Association’s ServSafeÒ Certified Food Protection Manager Certification prep classes and proctored exams. Upon passing the exam, this accredited program certifies the food service manager for a period of 5 years.
