Food Insecurity Crisis Creates Victory Garden To Go Event

The Healing Hunger Victory Garden is an initiative to shrink food insecurity, promote community activism, supplement the economic challenges that a home garden can assist with, increase mental and physical health, reduce anxiety and PTSD, encourage community activism and sharing harvests with those in need, friendship and fundraising and education to beat Veteran suicides and promote healthier, sustainable lifestyles.

Due to existing COVID-19 concerns, Garden To Go kits are available by ordering online and choosing your time slot. On May 1st, Healing Warriors Program will have a drive up tent at The Gardens on Spring Creek parking lot to distribute the kits during each time slot to keep social distancing in place.

The Garden to Go includes a high quality tool bag with 6 gardening tools, high quality gloves, vegetable seeds, brochures and more. Fort Collins Nursery will be sponsoring the prizes for the “How Does Your Garden Grow” Contest to be warded for the largest vegetables in select categories.

Each kit purchased will enable us to donate a kit to at risk Veterans in Northern Colorado and proceeds from this event will benefit The Healing Warriors Program, a 501c3 nonprofit agency that serves the Veteran community in suicide prevention through providing free and low cost non-narcotic treatments for PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, Interpersonal Trauma, Sleep Disorders and Pain at our Fort Collins Clinic and through our free monthly Pop-Up Clinics in Longmont, Denver and Colorado Springs as well as active duty personnel at Buckley AFB.

You can help by purchasing a kit, becoming a sponsor or making a donation on our site. Details and order placement available at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/healing-hunger-victory-garden-to-go-veteran-fundraiser-event-tickets-149156066811
