Dementia-Friendly Communities of Northern Colorado®will host the inaugural community-wide intergenerational memory café at The Lincoln Center, June 6, 2019,5-8 pm with the theme: “Happy Trails.”

This trailblazing dinner and concert event features Mountain City Music, a Colorado singer/songwriter duo with more than 5 million streams on Spotify and Apple Music. The couple will debut their soon-to-be released “Sweet Norma Jean” about the lead singer’s grandma, living with dementia, who is a Roy Rogers fan. Space is limited and registration is required. RSVP by May 24th.

The Happy Trails event is designed to increase awareness of the joy we can all share together with intergenerational interaction, even when dementia is part of the journey for some. Because this is an outreach and awareness event, there is no charge for tickets (donations will be accepted). Community businesses have underwritten the cost of the event,so any additional tax-deductible donations support the ongoing education and life-enrichment opportunities Dementia-Friendly Communities of Northern Colorado provides in our region.

Join us for this fun, casual, Western-themed evening. Expect a BBQ dinner (catered by Nordy’s),reminiscing, games, prizes, laughter, and a country store artisan sale by friends living with dementia and their care partners with all proceeds of the sale going toward the nonprofit organization. Registration at LCTIX.com,970-221-6730, or DementiaFriendsNoCO.org is now open.

Memory cafes are typically social gatherings for people with mild to moderate cognitive impairment and their care partners who want to remain socially engaged with others traveling the dementia journey. Memory Cafes are currently offered at no charge to participants 5 times a month throughout Northern Colorado (in Fort Collins, Windsor, Loveland, and Estes Park). Memory Cafes are one of the signature programs offered through the nonprofit organization, Dementia-Friendly Communities of Northern Colorado, whose mission is to create communities in which no one walking the dementia journey has to walk alone.
