BKD Announces Consultant Promotions

DENVER – Jeff Ronsse, managing partner of the BKD CPAs & Advisors’ Colorado practice, announces the promotions of Tim Sparks and Jonathan Anderson to senior managing consultant, effective April 1, 2019.

Career paths at BKD are divided into levels, and each position is defined by its own set of duties, responsibilities and competencies requiring cumulative and advanced degrees of education, training and experience.  Personnel also must demonstrate their leadership abilities as coaches and mentors, as well as take an active role in their community.  Individuals become candidates for promotion after successfully mastering their existing level.

Tim Sparks is a member of the firm’s Technologies division and assists with new implementations of Dynamics 365 Business Central and Dynamics GP while providing support to existing clients to help their systems run efficiently.  He comes from a manufacturing, distribution and field service background with experience in Microsoft Dynamics GP from an end-user standpoint.  Sparks focuses on systems integration, end-user training and business intelligence reporting.  He is a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in regard to functional and technical aspects of Microsoft Dynamics GP.  Sparks is a 2009 graduate of University of North Florida, Jacksonville, with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Jonathan Anderson is a member of the firm’s Technologies division Dynamics AX implementation team, focusing on trade, logistics and manufacturing.  He has more than 10 years of experience in discrete and process manufacturing in a variety of industries, including aerospace, chemicals, composites and textiles.  Since 2012, he has supported AX implementations in the chemical, aerospace and RV/Configure-to-Order industries.  Anderson previously worked as a quality engineer on the shuttle solid rocket booster program with NASA.  He is certified in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Trade and Logistics and Process Manufacturing and Dynamics 365 for Operation Distribution and Trade.  Anderson is an honors graduate of University of Colorado, Boulder, with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, and a graduate of The University of Utah, Salt Lake City, with an MBA.

Autumn Miller is a member of BKD National Health Care Group, and she provides accounting and audit services for a variety of health care for-profit, not-for-profit and governmental clients, including health care systems and mental health centers.  She is a member of Rocky Mountain Active 20-30 and also serves on the organization’s board of directors.  Miller is a 2014 graduate of Fort Lewis College, Durango, Colorado, with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.


BKD Announces Senior Manager Promotions

DENVER – Jeff Ronsse, managing partner of the BKD CPAs & Advisors’ Colorado practice, announces the promotions of Ben Chappell, Richard Kalisek and Jenica Shippy to senior manager, effective April 1, 2019.

Ben Chappell is a member of BKD National Healthcare Group, providing audit services for a variety of health care clients, including rural hospitals, urban hospitals and physician groups.  Chappell is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), Colorado Society of CPAs (COCPA) and Healthcare Financial Management Association.  He serves on the board of directors for Colorado Rehab Services Volunteer Partnership Clinic.  He is a 2010 graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington, with a bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in accounting and operations management.

Richard Kalisek is a member of BKD National Manufacturing & Distribution Group.  He provides accounting and audit services for a range of for-profit businesses, including manufacturers, distribution companies, oil and gas companies, oil field service companies, service firms, construction contractors and equipment dealers.  He also is experienced with audits of employee benefit plans, including defined benefit plans, defined contribution plans, 11-K audits and employee stock ownership plans. Kalisek participated in a work secondment from July 2017 through October 2017 with a Melbourne, Australia, accounting firm.  He provided accounting and audit services for primarily publicly traded companies.

He is a member of the AICPA, COCPA, Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.  He also serves as an instructor at BKD’s annual internal audit level training. Kalisek is a member of the Mile High Young Professionals Organization and participated in the 2015 Downtown Denver Leadership Program (DDLP).  He is currently an active member of the DDLP Alumni Association and previously served as a board member for the Mental Health Association of Nebraska. He is a graduate of University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in professional accountancy.

Jenica Shippy is a member of BKD National Financial Services Group.  She works with a wide range of financial services companies and institutions managing financial statement audits, internal audits, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulatory filings, including SOX 404 external and internal audit requirements, loan reviews and directors’ examinations.  Shippy also is experienced with audits of employee benefit plans and investment companies.  She has participated in several presentations on various new accounting standards and also teaches BKD internal new hire trainings.  She was selected to be a member of BKD’s national internal controls or financial reporting taskforce.  She is a member of the AICPA and COCPA and is active with Colorado Bankers Association and Independent Bankers of Colorado. Shippy also serves as a current board member of the Colorado Children’s Chorale. She is a 2011 graduate of University of Colorado Colorado Springs with a bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in accounting and finance.
