FORT COLLINS, Colo. (Nov. 2, 2016) – Banner Health announced this week the expansion of the Banner Health Center, an outpatient clinic that is adjoined to Banner Fort Collins Medical Center, located on the southeast corner of Lady Moon Drive and Harmony Road in Fort Collins.

The health center opened with the hospital in April 2015, to serve the region’s growing needs. It offers care provided by Banner Medical Group physicians who specialize in pediatrics, internal medicine, cardiology, OB/GYN, general surgery, gastroenterology, urology, neurosurgery and pulmonology. With the rapid growth in southeast Fort Collins, Banner Health officials are adding more office space for primary care and family medicine providers to serve patients both now and in the future.

“The community has really embraced the physicians practicing at the Banner Health Center,” said Gina Valenti, executive director of primary care for Banner Medical Group in Banner’s Western Division. “There is a strong demand for primary care at this facility and this expansion will provide us the space necessary to meet that need.”

Since the outpatient health center opened in April 2015, patient visits have increased by 51 percent and demand is high for primary care.

“Establishing a relationship with a primary care physician will allow residents access to preventative services that seek to keep them healthy,” said Joseph Gregory, MD, Division Medical Director, Primary Care Northern Colorado. “We are building a team here to meet those needs in this growing community.”

The $5.7 million project is scheduled to break ground in January and open during the summer. Once finished, the health center will include six more physician offices, including two for family medicine, one for a pediatrician, one for an obstetrician gynecologist and two for rotating doctors. Currently, the health center has 16 exam rooms with laboratory and X-ray services available in the hospital.

Situated on a 28-acre site, the health center is connected to Banner Fort Collins Medical Center, a two-story hospital with 22 in-patient rooms. As part of a 40-year plan, the hospital was also pre-approved to accommodate up to 144 patient beds, two additional towers, parking structure and medical office building during future expansion. Similarly, the health center expansion will include shelled space for nine more physician offices that will be completed and opened for use as needed.

Banner Medical Group, Banner Health’s employed physician group, employs more than 1,500 physicians and more than 3,500 total employees in Colorado, Nebraska, Arizona, Alaska and Wyoming. That includes 250 physicians and 150 advanced practice professionals who provide care in Weld and Larimer counties.
