The Avery House new Volunteer Information Session

January 1, 1970 @ 12:00 am

The Avery House is preparing for another busy summer of visitors guided through the home by docents telling the story of the Avery family. Would you like to enlighten the public? If so, help in our mission to preserve, restore, protect, and interpret the architectural and cultural heritage of the Fort Collins area.
The Poudre Landmarks Foundation is seeking volunteers for 2023 to teach local students, tourists and others the history of Fort Collins through organized tours and programs. Volunteer opportunities include:

Docents: lead guests on tours of The Avery House

Events: help with planning, setting up and greeting attendees at our signature events

Fundraising: help secure event sponsors and donors for our signature events and programs

Research/Exhibits: help investigate artifacts, curate and set up special exhibits

Museum Collections: learn how to catalogue and handle our artifacts

Communications: help us get the word out about our exhibits, events and tours

Maintenance Group: help keep the property in bloom and picture-perfect for weddings and other rentals

Volunteers oversee the day-to-day operation of The Avery House, the 144-year-old Victorian-gothic home that has been open for tours since the Avery Family sold the home to the City of Fort Collins in the 1970s.

The Avery House–located at 328 W Mountain Ave–will be open for public tours this summer on Saturdays, from 11am-2pm and on Sundays, from 1-4pm. The Avery House signature events include: Valentine-themed candlelit tours, a scotch tasting, old-fashioned Fourth of July, the Historic Homes Tour, Halloween-themed candlelit tours and a holiday open house boutique.

A volunteer information session and tour is planned for Saturday, March 25 at 10am in the Carriage House. Anyone aged 18 and older is welcome to volunteer. To RSVP, please email [email protected] or call (970) 221-0533 by March 22nd. No commitment is required to attend this informational event.
