“Dual Natures: Stories from a Century of National Parks,” a special event of the Public Lands History Center’s American West Program.

In celebration of the National Park Service’s 100th anniversary, the Public Lands History Center faculty will offer short, dramatic stories revealing both hopeful and troubling episodes in National Park history. A reception with refreshments will follow, allowing guests to mingle with students and hear more stories drawn from projects in the parks.
This event also marks the debut of the Public Lands History series with University of Oklahoma Press and the first two titles released under the imprint. National Parks Beyond the Nation: Global Perspectives on “America’s Best Idea” edited by Adrian Howkins, Jared Orsi, and Mark Fiege, and Sea of Sand: A History of Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve by Michael M. Geary will both be available for purchase and author signing at the event.
“Dual Natures” is open to the public and is a fundraiser for the American West Program. This event is co-sponsored by the Department of History and the School of Global Environmental Sustainability.
