Madam Mayor & members of Council:
The Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to offer this letter of support as you consider extending $1M in financial support of the Northern Colorado Regional Airport (FNL) terminal expansion project. As a loud champion of meaningful investment in our transportation network, we view FNL as a critical component of a well-designed, highly functional system for addressing the future needs of our region.
As the very nature of transportation is undergoing transformative disruption, the proposed improvements will allow greater utility of existing resources while promoting innovations that put FNL at the forefront of this revolution. As one of two airports nationwide testing remote tower technology and the only facility seeking secure ground transit authorization, we are encouraged by the foresight and leadership of FNL.
We believe the conditional aspects of the proposed investment, as defined within the agenda packet, appear reasonable, though caution that potential triggers for partial repayment of the Fort Collins investment must include a force majeure clause. As we have all witnessed over the past three years, even the best laid plans are subject to forces well outside of our control and immediate vision.
